Consequently, boys and girls collect, process and interpret information differently. However, this fact; that boys and girls are totally different, is overlooked and ignored by the public schools! Also overlooked and ignored are the natural tendencies that boys and girls have. Natural tendencies are the direct result of the differences in hormones and brain circuitry! Natural tendencies are part of the physical and pyschological make up of boys and girls. Natural tendencies are innate and instinctive! However, because natural tendencies are ignored, boys and girls are expected to perform and respond the same and THAT SIMPLY DOESN’T HAPPEN! The result is that boys are most often found to be hyper-active, labeled and branded with a stigma of dysfunction. Often times, their true natural nature and intelligence is suppressed.
Understanding and accepting the inherent hormonal differences, natural circuitry and natural tendencies of boys and girls is a cornerstone in the foundation for your child having the “right attitude”. This is where understanding your child begins. Recognizing, respecting, understanding and appreciating the differences of boys and girls and working with them, (not against them) creates strong self-esteem, causes children to feel good about themselves and in and of itself, this causes a corrective attitude adjustment in children for the better.
