It is why parents have children. We love our children... Without them....there is no tomorrow... Children are our celebration...
 
 
Yet today, the natural energy and curiosity of children is often ignored, criticized, misunderstood, suppressed, medicated and in some children just plain missing.
 
Often times a child's natural energy is not appreciated because a child cannot seem to stay focused, and/or is failing in school and/or has been labeled hyper-active and is being medicated. ADD, ADHD, DRUG ABUSE, LEARNING DISABILITIES, BULLYING, TEENAGE PREGNANCY, POOR GRADES, NO MOTIVATION, NO FOCUS, DEPRESSION, LAZY, BAD ATTITUDE... All are significant problems and concerns that parents have today.
Any of the above problems is a serious indicator that something is wrong.
If your child is already 'one of the above' you have good reason to be concerned.
If your child is not 'one of the above' you still have considerable reason to be concerned because you do not want your child becoming 'one of the above'.
 
There is an underlying root cause for 'all of the above' which often times goes unnoticed and is ignored. In order to properly understand and address 'any of the above' the root cause must be recognized.
Treating the root cause begins with understanding what the #1 problem parents raising children really is.
 


 
 
THE # 1 PROBLEM ALL PARENTS FACE:
 
The PLAIN TRUTH is that, even if your child is perfect, ALL CHILDREN ARE AT RISK. NO CHILD IS IMMUNE! THAT IS THE #1 PROBLEM PARENTS FACE.
 

As parents we must be very clear and realistic about the world we live in today. Most parents raising children acknowledge from either first hand experiences and/or from media exposure that ALL CHILDREN are considered AT RISK in our society. No child is immune! Problems with children abound.

The KEY to resolving problems is to 'nip in the bud' a 'potential problem' before it becomes a PROBLEM. A small emerging, often times ignored, or unrecognized problem can fester into a bigger more serious PROBLEM. That PROBLEM might be anything from a child being branded as dysfunctional, and/or being medicated and/or failing in school and/or, a worst-case scenario, a nightmare like the insanity of Littleton, Colorado, where children murdered innocent children.

All parents face the same PROBLEM ... All CHILDREN are AT RISK! Even if you believe your child is perfect, the minute your child walks out the door, your child is AT RISK!

In fact, children are even AT RISK... of being misdiagnosed with ADD, ADHD, a LEARNING DISABILITY, etc., because there is a strong tendency to 'rush to judgment' and quickly label a child with a stigma of dysfunction. Are you aware that public schools often times get more funding when your child is labeled?

A rush to judgment can happen in cases where the real cause of a child's seeming 'problem' may be:

a) environmental (stress in the home and/or school environment can and does produce behavorial consequences),

b) food related (allergies, excessive sugar, etc. cause behavioral consequences),

c) ignorance and an inability of schools and staff to recognize, understand and appreciate the learning style of a particular child (see below what schools ignore about 'intelligence' and what you should know about intelligence)

d) ignorance about the fundamental natural tendencies, (differences) between boys and girls which are the direct result of the differences in hormones and natural brain circuitry.

Indeed, all children are AT RISK. So much so that today it is common for the parents of children as young as two years of age entering pre-school to be told that the school will not accept their child unless the child is put on medication!

Parents, please consider the following:

STATISTICS ARE SOBBERING:

Boys aged 5 – 12 are:

200 % more likely to commit suicide than girls!

95 % more likely to be on drugs than girls!

60 % more likely to fail school and be left back!

33 % more likely quit school and not finish!

BOYS are 398%* more likely to be AT RISK!

85% of girls drink alcohol before are 15!

70% of girls have “SEX” before age 15!

60% of girls smoke cigarettes before age 15!

18% of girls are pregnant before age 15!

These statistics are PROOF POSITIVE that ALL CHILDREN are AT RISK in America today. AND,

THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS: Help or Hinder?

The PLAIN TRUTH is that America’s schools are failing children. 

Public school, in majority, are understaffed and overpopulated. There is little, if any, individualized attention given children in public school. Perhaps your child has already been labeled as being "learning disabled", disruptive, and as having a “bad” attitude or an "oppositional defiant disorder". Your child may have been further branded with the stigma of "ADD", "ADHD" or any number of hyper-active disorders.

Today, it is quite common for labels to be quickly utilized, thus branding children and giving them excuses not to succeed. At an alarming rate in many cases, schools choose to medicate or expel or turn a blind eye and simply move a child along to graduation. Children are pushed grade to grade, often times graduating high school with out any real foundation in education necessary to succeed in life.

Children are falling behind academically. Children are becoming despondent and violent. It is shocking how much criticism is leveled at the public school system. Many good teachers and administrators trying to do the right job are frustrated!

With a constant calling for more money and increased taxes, public schools continue to eliminate vital elements of education. Art, music, physical education and history programs (to name a few) are being slashed. None of reasons for these eliminations can be justified. Public schools have many excuses. That’s all they offer; Excuses! Schools have no real answers. Stifling, suppressing and medicating a child inhibits intellectual, creative and social abilities. It produces conflict, tension and frustration. Unnecessarily stifling, suppressing and medicating a child helps to create and nurture a “bad” attitude in children!

HOW AT RISK IS YOUR CHILD?

All children are AT RISK! The question is, how AT RISK is your child? There are two groups of AT RISK children to consider.

The first group consists of children who have been diagnosed with some sort of learning disability or hyperactivity disorder and medication may already be prescribed to curtail and/or modify the child's behavior.

The second group consists of children who have not been labeled with a disorder and are not taking medication. This group also includes children who are not formally labeled and whose parents maybe resisting the 'opinion' of others who are recommending that they medicate their child. As stated, today it is quite common for pre-school staffers to request that children as young as two years of age... be placed on medication... before they enter pre-school!

Considering the first group; while many of those who diagnose dysfunction and prescribe medication would have parents believe that the problem is 'fixed'... concerned parents know better! Medication can be addicting. Medication can lead to other drug issues. Medication can cause cancer and death! Labels of dysfunction are excuses. Once a child, a teacher, and, now and than, a parent has an excuse... the excuse becomes the result!

Many parents whose children are in the first group realize the dilemma that labels of dysfunction and medication create. These concerned parents are looking for another way for their children to become stable and productive. They need a solution. Considering the second group; parents with children that are not labeled and are not medicated realize the dilemma parents in the first group face and are searching for a solution to insure that their child does not fall into the first group. The statistics above are very real. The fact is that children in both groups are AT RISK of becoming a statistic or to be adversely effected by a 'peer' who is destined to become a statistic. No child is immune!

The SOLUTION... WHERE TO START:
To substantially reduce the AT RISK factors for all children, in the first instance, parents must evaluate the environmental considerations of their children. Stress, confusion, turmoil etc., in the home and/or in school can and does produce adverse behavioral consequences. Parents must also consider food related issues because allergies and an improper diet can cause adverse behavioral consequences.

With these considerations taken into account, regardless of which group your child is in, understanding the SOLUTION begins with understanding the root cause; the HEART of the problem.

A child that is presently labeled and/or medicated needs to have the root cause of the problem addressed so that when that child is taken off medication that child can stand erect, stable and be able to function in life. A child that is not labeled and/or medicated, as yet, likewise needs to have the root cause of the problem addressed so that that child will not need to be labeled and/or medicated. The root cause is the heart of the problem.

The HEART of the problem is ATTITUDE.

ATTITUDE is the # 1 concern that parents have about children, (or should). ATTITUDE is the # 1 concern because ATTITUDE creates behavior in life. ATTITUDE is the first priorty that must be addressed to effectively and beneficially modify behavior.

Everything in a child’s life is about ATTITUDE! With the RIGHT ATTITUDE mountains can be moved! A wrong attitude can and usually does produce a life of confusion, chaos and heartache. A wrong attitude puts a child, YOUR child... AT RISK!

A wrong attitude can be overcome and whenever possible it should be overcome without medication. Good behavior is the result. The RIGHT ATTITUDE makes the difference.

 

PEER PRESSURE is the 2nd concern most acknowledged by parents. Adverse Peer Pressure (APP) can be devastating. APP needs a “wrong attitude” to take hold. No one can forget the nightmare of Columbine. APP can be a killer. It can also help get your daughter pregnant or turn her into a BULLY.

Also overlooked and ignored are the natural tendencies that boys and girls have. Natural tendencies are the direct result of the differences in hormones and brain circuitry!
